Toshiba Satellite C875D-S7225 Review

Toshiba Satellite C875D-S7225 is perhaps one of the most beautiful laptops you’ll find out there, but then again, most of the Satellite laptops from Toshiba are positively beautiful as far as aspect is concerned. This model costs around $500 at the time of this review and it’s one of the better budget laptops I’ve found lately to be honest. It’s not easy to find a new 17.3-inch laptop with these specs for such a low price. Personally, I’d rush into buying it if it’s still available in stock. Not only does it have all the looks, but it also has a great deal of performance. Granted, I do not know all that much about the particularities of this device’s hardware as I am not very informed on the AMD / ATI department. I have owned some ATI products in the past, and I wasn’t so satisfied with the results. Perhaps that was only my case, but it is better not to comment on such things, else people might say that I am taking favorites.

The RAM of this device is one of the better things it has: it comes equipped with 6 GB of RAM at a 1600 MHz frequency. That amount of RAM will accomplish quite a large bit of multitasking, making it pretty suitable even for power users.

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
From a student's perspective, I can honestly say that if you truly want to go to all the classes, get high marks and work in your free time, you will have little time left for any other activities. That is why, as a student, you aren't really looking to buy a very expensive or powerful laptop. Something with just enough strength as to run most of the programs used in school (which are outdated for more than a decade) and some strength for a few games, movies and music is all that you need. Luckily, Toshiba Satellite C875D-S7225 fits that definition perfectly. It has all the above mentioned requirements and a few extras, as well.

  • Student
From my experience with casual users, I've deducted that most of them do not know how to use all of the resources of the PC, thus limiting themselves to web-browsing, social networking, music listening and the occasional movie. Therefore, a basic computer with all of the basic functions should suffice for this particular category. For that exact reason, I wouldn't really recommend Toshiba Satellite C875D-S7225 for casual users. Sure, it can do all the above tasks, but it is also much stronger and more expensive than you will most likely need.

  • Student
The way I see it, the perfect laptop for a business user should be the Ultrabook, as a business user should value mobility above all else. However, if an Ultrabook is out of the question, as I am aware of how much one of them costs, I suppose there are alternatives of laptops that can substitute it. Toshiba Satellite C875D-S7225 could substitute it pretty well, as it has just about all the necessary requirements of a business laptop, plus a few extras as well. It may have a few extra bells and whistles that you may never actually use, but other than that it's just fine.

  • Student
A power user laptop is pretty much the most powerful laptop out there. All components, save the video card, need to be the strongest they could be ( I can't really find the use of a strong video card on a power user laptop ). Toshiba Satellite C875D-S7225 should be able to handle quite a very large dose of multitasking, especially since it has 6 GB of DDR3 RAM at 1600 MHz. However, I wouldn't really force it as it probably can't handle as much as a professionally built power user laptop.

  • Student
The definition of a gaming laptop is pretty much the same as the power user laptop, except you also add a very strong video card to the equation. Well, Toshiba Satellite C875D-S7225 can be used for a moderate amount of gaming. A fair number of games will run on it, however, it may not work so well with the newer games. Expect little to no performance in the newer titles.

PROs Vs. CONs

The operating system of this device is Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium on 64 bits. Now I'm not sure if this still applies or not, but Microsoft used to have a sale in which if you purchased any device with Microsoft Windows 7 on it, you'd be able to upgrade to Windows 8 for free of get Windows 8 Pro for a mere 15 dollars. As of the current veridicity of this sale, I am not sure.

While in most cases having a few pre-installed programs helps, as you know it won't take too long to set up the laptop, in this particular case it doesn't help all that much. Most of the programs you will find on this laptop are trial versions of programs.

User Reviews: what others think?

All of the reviews of this laptop are positive and I have yet to find one that offers some negative information about it. In the end, the laptop looks great and functions just as so, that is why not many people seem to complain about it. You can read other reviews from actual consumers by visiting the Toshiba's official website over here.

Summary

In conclusion, this is one of the better laptops you could get your hands on. It is perfect for students and business users, it is good for power users and gamers, provided they don't try to overdo it and it is acceptable for casual users. I wouldn't orient towards it as a casual user, as there are so many other weaker laptops you could get for cheaper. Please let us know if you enjoyed reading the Toshiba Satellite C875D-S7225 Review.
