Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...
- Student
From a student's perspective, I can honestly say that not a lot of time is actually left for any activities. Thus, a student can do just fine with a low-to-average laptop. Also, if the Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5232 comes cheap, as a student's budget is limited, all the better.
Thankfully, the C855D-S5232 fulfills all of the tasks a student can have for it. It is more than fit enough as to handle just about any program, it comes extremely cheap and it doen't take a lot to set up. For such a low price, I don't see how one could possibly ask for more.
- Casual User
From the many casual users I know I have managed to get a bit of information to help me in my further analisys of them. The results are: they mostly use the PC for web-browsing, the occasional movie, a small and not too hardware-demanding game and so forth. The conclussion of that: not a lot of performance is required.
Therefore, it would seem that Toshiba C855D-S5232 is simply perfect for said task as it satisfies any and all tastes of the casual user category. As a bonus, it also has a lot of performance and is usable in quite a few multitasking activities.
- Business User
As far as I see it, a business user is somebody that values mobility above all else. Therefore, I always believe that the Ultrabook would be the perfect choice of laptop for a Business user, but since those devices are usually so expensive, I guess any other laptop with a bit of performance would do.
Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5232 should be pretty useful for a business user. It has a bit of storage space (Sata HDD with 320 GB at 5400 rpm), 4 GB of DDR3 RAM at 1066 MHz (not the best frequency, but it should suffice). This laptop should prove good enough for any Business user, as long as they do not have high expectations about the Multitasking of the laptop.
- Power User
As far as I see it, a power user is somebody that wants to get the most out of their device. Therefore, a power user requires something that is strong in almost every domain ( all except the video card - I believe that isn't an all too big requirement.
Again I say what I always say: the only devices I would recommend for power users and gamers alike are the ones made specifically for that purpose. That is why I say people should just build their own in those cases and add the specific components they know will fit those tasks.
Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5232 is not a good fit for power users.
- Gaming
The definition of a gaming laptop is pretty much the same as the one for the Power User, except you also require a strong video card as well.
Needless to say, since it has an extra component and thus is stronger than the ones used by the Power Users, the normal logic would state that Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5232 isn't suitable for gaming.
PROs Vs. CONs
Perhaps one of the best things about this laptop is that it has Microsoft Windows Home Premium 64 Bit on it. Also, Microsoft is having an offer now that if you purchase any device equipped with Microsoft Windows 7 on it you can easily upgrade to Windows 8 when it comes out for free, or buy Windows 8 Pro for a mere 15 dollars.
I am somebody that usually uses a laptop for gaming and will thus require a dedicated video card. However, it's a double edged blade that this laptop lacks one. On one side, it's good since it will be much cheaper than the rest, but on the other side, it will disappoint those such as I who actually need that component.
Also, I don't personally enjoy the pre-installed software in general but others might find it useful and easy to work with.
User Reviews: what others think?
Up until now there are only two reviews made by users. One is good and the other is bad. Since I've said enough good things, let's start with the bad one.
Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5232 is said to not be the sturdiest of laptops, or at least so said one of the users. That user claimed that the screws are glued in, instead of being screwed in. He also complained about the flimsiness of the plastic cover and that his exhaust fan squeaks when it spins. Well, I think those are some problems that should be covered by the warranty. However, with all these things, the user had nothing bad to say about the hardware itself.
The other person said they enjoy it very much and can profit a lot from the face recognition software. Also, this more positive reviewer says that they were very satisfied with the MultiTouch as well, as he / she usually used tablets / smartphones.
Since the opinions are shared, I leave it up to you, the user, to decide which one is better.
Go ahead and read all the reviews and ratings left by those who already purchased Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5232 and decide if it's a good fit for you.
