Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U Review

The Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U is one of the better laptops you can find for such a low price. Now you may not agree with me, but truth be told, it’s hard to find something with a bit of quality among so many weak and / or mediocre products. Also, this laptop comes at a pretty reasonable price considering it has so many powerful things on it. The 6 GB of RAM alone are worth quite a lot (granted, I don’t know what frequency they are as my sources have failed to provide me with that little detail, but in such a great number they should work just fine with any activity). Now something that really pleases me about this device is the design. I personally own an Ideapad with the same design and I can honestly say, from first hand experience, it is absolutely great. The keyboard is very comfortable for any and all activities and the arrangement of things on its sides is very practical.

Also, this device has OneKey Recovery on it. Basically, it has a small RECOVERY button right near the power one which puts you into the Recovery screen where you can repair any damage done to the software. I highly recommend creating some Recovery Disks once you get the laptop in your hands. Normally, it has a special hidden partition somewhere which handles all back-ups. However, if by some means you manage to delete that partition, those disks will come in handy.

The Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U is available at Amazon.com since 1st of August and you can get it for under $500 (at the time of this review at lest).

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
As far as I see things, as a student you don't necessarily have a whole lot of free time for any other activities. Therefore you don't necessarily need something with a whole lot of strength. Of course, if you do find some spare time, having a bit of hardware strength you can rely one never hurt anybody. That is why I believe that Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U would suit a student perfectly. While something cheaper with a bit less performance is recommended, why not pay the extra buck and get a bit more bang for it?

  • Casual User
Out of all the casual users I know, none of them know or are willing to use the full resources of the PC. Most of them don't know how to use them. Others simply limit themselves to watching movies, surfing the internet and things like that. Therefore, Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U may be a bit too strong for the average casual user. In essence, sure, it can run any activity imposed by a casual user. However, in the eventuality that you want to be more than you already are, this should come in handy.

  • Business User
As far as I see the average business user, the thing that should be valued most by them is Mobility. Therefore, I believe that the best laptop for a business user would be the Ultrabook, as it is as light as they get. If that's out of the question, Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U should do pretty well too. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to set it up and it has a lot of strength for multitasking and storage space. In a word: perfect ( for business users, at least ).

  • Power User
The way I see it, a power user is somebody with the know-how to use the PC and the willingness to push it to its limit. Therefore, a power user PC should have almost all components at their peak. I don't think a strong video card is required for power users, but other than that everything needs to be maxed out. While I firmly believe both power users and gamers should create their PCs on custom builds, in some cases other pre-made devices will fulfill the task almost as well. This is one of those cases. As long as you don't try to overdo it on this one, the Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U should fit you more than you'd think.

  • Gaming
In my opinion, the definition of a gaming laptop is pretty much the same as the definition for a power user laptop, except you also add a very strong video card to the equation. What I said about the power users stands here as well. While this laptop may not have a professional gaming video card, its video card - the HD 3000 - should suffice for a decent number of games. Provided you know how to set your details, the Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U should run some of the newer titles as well.

PROs Vs. CONs

One of the best things about this laptop is the Operating System, this device having Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium on 64 bits already installed on it. I believe Microsoft is having an offer in which if you purchase any device with Windows 7 on it, you can upgrade for free to Windows 8 or spend 15 dollars for Windows 8 Pro when it comes out.

I fancy myself a person that uses the dedicated video card quite a lot. Therefore, I am quite disappointed to see that this device is lacking one. Still, the HD 3000 video card is a pretty strong one in itself and should suffice for powerful video-demanding activities such as a moderate amount of gaming just fine. Also, a minus for me is the fact that it has pre-installed programs. I tend to have my own suit of programs I generally use and dislike other programs.

User Reviews: what others think?

Unfortunately, as of yet there are no user reviews of this laptop. However, you could be the first to review the Lenovo Ideapad Z580 215124U. All you have to do is purchase it and share your opinion of it to the world via the internet.

Summary

In conclusion, this is a laptop that is pretty well-suited for all categories. Sure, students and casual users could find something cheaper with not so much performance and power users and gamers will have to limit themselves in their activities, but other than that the laptop should be more than good enough.
