Lenovo G780 i3-3110M Review (17.3-inch)

Lenovo G780 is one of the better laptops I’ve reviewed lately. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I use an IdeaPad myself, but I’ve grown quite fond of the design these laptops have. The touchpad is enormous (personally I don’t care much for it – I disable it since I use a mouse), the keyboard is extremely comfy and the design is so comfortable and practical altogether.

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
From a student's perspective, I can honestly say that if you want to work and have good grades at the same time, you will end up with little to no free time. Therefore, you do not really need something all that strong (especially considering that most school programs have been outdated for decades). However, if you DO get a bit of free time, having a bit of performance you can rely on will never hurt. Therefore, I believe that the Lenovo G780 is perfect for a student. Its only true drawback is the fact that it is a bit pricey. I hope you will find my review helpful.

  • Casual User
From all the casual users I know of, none of them can actually use all the resources of the PC at their maximum. Most of them simply limit themselves to browsing the web, watching movies, listening to music or such simple activities that do not require a lot of resources. In the end, Lenovo G780 can fulfill the task, but so could a 300 to 350 dollars laptop. My opinion would be that it is pointless to pay more for something you may never use. However, having a bit of performance you can rely on, especially at a good price, never hurt anybody. If you're ok with the price the Lenovo G780 could be an option.

  • Business User
The way I see it, a business user should value mobility above all else. Therefore I believe that the most mobile laptop and the most practical for said category would be the Ultrabook. If one of those is out of the question, as I too understand they are a bit out of the reach of the average man, there are other alternatives. The Lenovo G780 can be one of them. For the same price you can find a really bad Ultrabook (but it's thin), or you could buy this 3rd gen Intel i3 processor equipped laptop and get a whole lot more bang for your buck.

  • Power User
The power user is, as the name suggests, the one who truly knows how to and is willing to push the PC to its limits. The ideal power user laptop is one built from scrap with the components you desire. In certain cases, other laptops will suffice as well. This device is one of those particular cases. Lenovo G780 may not be the most hardcore power user laptop, but it is more than strong enough as to handle a whole bunch of multitasking.

  • Gaming
As I see it, a gaming laptop is the apex of laptop technology, having absolutely all components at their possible peak. All components must be top notch, and under normal circumstances, the laptop must also has a dedicated video card. Now this is not a normal laptop. While it may lack a dedicated video card, I can personally vouch from experience that the integrated video card is capable of running even the newest of game titles at decent details. It can also run them on maximum details, but the game will lag a bit then. If your budget allows it, the Lenovo G780 with 3rd Generation Intel Core i3 (with the awesome Intel HD Graphics 4000) and 17.3-inch size display.

PROs Vs. CONs

One of the best points of this device is it having a Preinstalled version of Microsoft Windows 8. This means that in the price of the laptop also includes the price of a Microsoft Windows License. Now personally I am not the biggest of fans of Windows 8 as I find it looks too much like the mobile OS and would function much better with a touch-screen equipped computer. Otherwise, it is somewhat pointless.

One of the main disadvantages of this particular laptop is the lack of a dedicated video card. Personally I rely on such a video card quite a lot. Sure, while the integrated one is strong enough as to run even the newest of titles, having a dedicated one of equal strength gets you better results. Also, the fact that it has preinstalled programs is more of a nuisance than you'd think. More often than not, these programs are just trial versions of programs.

User Reviews: what others think?

Unfortunately, there are no user reviews of this laptop as of yet. If you would, you could be the first to review Lenovo G780 by simply buying it and then sharing your opinion of it to the world via the internet.

RAM Upgrade for Lenovo G780 i3-3110M

Summary

In conclusion, this is a laptop pretty much suited for everything. It is great for Students, Casual Users and Business Users alike ( although some of them may be paying more than they actually require ). This device will also suit the occasional Power Users an Gamers that do not actually expect to receive all that much performance out of their tasks or do not really want to spend all that much money for something Professionally built for those particular tasks.
