HP 2000-2b09WM Review
This is another variation of the popular HP 2000z Series. It’s relatively similar to the previous HP 2000 I have reviewed, but it has some minor differences here and there. You will come to know them when their time is right.
HP has been a long-time companion of mine which has never failed to impress. This laptop definitely looks like it is dressed to impress, but since the aspect of a laptop isn’t really considered a deciding fact, we’ll leave that aside for a bit. The hardware of this laptop isn’t all that strong if you are to compare with the rest of the powerful laptops out there, but if you compare HP 2000-2b09WM with the requirements of the categories of users for which this laptop was designed, you’ll find that it is more than adequate.
While this laptop usually costs 449.99 dollars (that’s the list price), you can get it cheaper now because it’s on sale at Amazon.com, thus saving enough in the process to afford an upgrade for the RAM of the laptop, making it a monster with 8 GB instead of the 2 GB it already has. It’s up to you.

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...
- Student
If you're a student and on a budget, there aren't a whole lot of laptops that can fit you better than this one. The HP 2000-2b09WM provides all the required hardware for a student in need. Also, its screen quality makes it one of the best low-cost alternatives for watching movies from wherever your sources may be. Also, the 320 GB hard drive of this device should come in handy when in a bind. I think you will also enjoy the "above-the-average" (up-to) 6 hours and 45 minutes of battery life. - Casual User
A casual user should enjoy this laptop quite a bit. It's really easy to use especially since it comes with a pre-installed version of Windows 8 and a few programs, thus booting up pretty quickly the first time and not requiring hours of setting up. Windows 8 may take a few getting used to, but so did all Windows operating systems in their beginning. HP 2000-2b09WM has plenty amount of disk space, enough RAM, pretty good battery life and it's equipped with premium Altec Lansing stereo speakers. - Business User
If you're a business user that desires a bit of strength, then this may not be your wisest of choices. However, with the cash you're saving on it, you can easily choose to upgrade its RAM, removing the 2 GB piece and adding 2 pieces of 4 GB. After that, it should run as fast as the wind (but it's still a budget laptop so you will have to set your expectations accordingly). What other PC can do that at such a low price, I ask you. The HP 2000-2b09WM doesn't come with Bluetooth connection, but it has 3 USB 2.0 ports however. - Power User
If you're a power user and even decide to upgrade the RAM of this laptop, I'm afraid it will still not be strong enough. It may work for some lower tasks, but never for the advanced ones. I recommend looking elsewhere if you desire something powerful - mayhaps even a custom-built laptop. - Gaming
If you're a gamer, steer clear of this laptop. The HP 2000-2b09WM won't have the power to run any game (especially not the newer ones). If you get this laptop with the thought that it can handle it, you risk being deeply disappointed.
PROs Vs. CONs
Aside from the bonus Windows 8 license included in the price and the few programs preinstalled on the laptop, a really great thing about it is its upgradability of the RAM. Being able to sustain a total of 8 GB, instead of the 2 GB this laptop comes with, this little guy has the potential of becoming a monster of a machine (in the good way).
Apart from the few cons (more like limitations) which can be easily observed in ALL Under $400 laptops, perhaps the only true con of this laptop is the lack of Bluetooth. It isn't all that serious, however, as rare is the laptop in this price group that is equipped with that particular component.
User Reviews: what others think?
There are quite a few user reviews and I was able to learn quite a bit from them. The general response of the users is good - so far there have not been any reported returns or incidents with broken down laptops. However, there seem to be some complaints about the complexity of Windows 8 (it will fade in time) and the over-sensitivity of the track pad Many people claim that it doesn't really help them in the eventuality that they have to type a lot. I type a lot too, but I turn off the track pad and use a mouse instead (I HATE track pads in general, but I'm a freak LoL). If you're interested in getting a laptop for a student, a casual user or even a business user with not a lot of power-demanding tasks, then there is no better laptop than this one. It's efficient, reliable and affordable. If you're part of those previously mentioned categories, do not miss out on the chance of getting one of these. Also, you can find the complete feature list on the official HP website over here.I really hope you will find my HP 2000-2b09WM review useful.
