Dell Inspiron i15R-2110sLV Review

Being a relatively new laptop, this ultra powerful Dell monster comes in a pretty small package. It has a ton of features and a whole lot of hardware strength. Actually when you get down to brass facts, getting this laptop NOW for this price would be one of the best purchases you could make.
The original price (also known as the list price) of this laptop was 583 dollars, but at the time of this review it was on sale at amazon.com website. Therefore, the few dozen dollars you are saving on it will more than come in handy, especially since the holidays are nearly at the end and we all know how many expenses we had to deal with.

This laptop is equipped with a 3rd Gen Intel i3 processor, and you know just how strong one of those can be. Hell, in the benchmarks it scores around 2900 points (which is a lot, trust me).
One of the more unique features of this laptop is its SWITCH top. If you aren’t satisfied with the color of this laptop, rest assured since the top is switch-able with other tops of other colors. Of course, I believe other tops of other colors cost quite a bit, but if you want detailed customization you pay a little more (as I have learned from my many experiences in different domains).

Also, one of the main great things to keep in mind about this laptop is its brand. After all, this is a Dell and Dells are widely accepted as some of the best computers out there. I myself know countless trustworthy individuals that can vouch for Dell products they have been in possession of for more than a few years. Therefore, when you’re buying a Dell, you effectively make an investment, one which will pay off in reliability.

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
From the obvious point of view, the Dell Inspiron i15R-2110sLV would be pretty good for a student as it offers quite a bit of strength and is good for many other tasks as well. However, if you are the kind of person that only want a PC that can do school work, then this is not the answer for you. Something that is only good for school work would be the casual user laptop. The processor of this laptop is way too strong to just limit it to school work. Depending on the tasks you have for it, you may just want to consider a cheaper alternative. Even so, some extra power to play with is always nice to have if you ask me.

  • Casual User
A casual user will definitely benefit from this particular laptop, but they can also benefit from an under 400 laptop as well. This one is strong and fast, but it is way stronger than they would require for the normal casual user. I cannot truly recommend it for casual users as they can also find something cheaper and less powerful as this particular laptop offers strength that the average casual user does not require. If all you are looking to do is playing movies, listening to music, browse the web and Facebook your friends, you can honestly get away a little cheaper, but if you can afford to buy this Dell Inspiron i15R-2110sLV then a little extra power won't hurt :)

  • Business User
While the main fact to keep in mind for business users is mobility, performance is also a required field. Fortunately, Dell i15R-2110sLV provides both in equal measure. While it's not as thin as an Ultrabook, it's still quite mobile. I am not a huge fan of its design, as it lacks the numeric keys (and there seems to have been enough space to add them), but many seem to enjoy this particular design. The screen is around 15 inches so the laptop is relatively smaller than your regular desktop PC. But anyway this laptop will run most of the business apps that I'm aware of with no problem at all.

  • Power User
This Dell Inspiron i15R-2110sLV laptop is pretty usable by power users since its hardware is extremely powerful. The Intel i3 processor (oh yeah, the 3rd Gen one baby) and the 6 GB of RAM with which this laptop is equipped will most definitely help you in all of your multitasking needs.

  • Gaming
This laptop, despite lacking a dedicated video card, is pretty decent in gaming. As long as you do not expect obnoxiously high details in your games, the Dell Inspiron i15R-2110sLV should be just fine. Its integrated HD 4000 video card is more than capable of providing you with decent performance in all titles. Of course, the newest ones won't run at the highest details but you got the point.

PROs Vs. CONs

One of the many great things about this laptop, aside from all of the top notch hardware inside of it, is its operating system. In the reduced price of the laptop is included the price of a license for Windows. Now I may not be the biggest fan of Windows 8 but you have to admit that it's a pretty sweet deal. Normally, the price of a license for Windows costs more than a couple of hundred dollars (particularly in my country) so it's a pretty smart buy to get this.

The lack of a dedicated video card is noted, even on such a strong laptop. To me, that is a pretty big disadvantage. While the integrated HD 4000 is strong enough to handle a bit of gaming and maybe even run some of the newer titles at Low details, the dedicated video card would still be a welcome improvement. Also, Dell Inspiron i15R-2110sLV has quite a lot of preinstalled programs. Some of them are useful, but there are quite a few trials around there.

User Reviews: what others think?

Unfortunately as of yet there are only 2 user reviews posted on Amazon for this laptop. The good part is that both of them are positive (users rated this laptop with a 5 out of 5 for the moment). One of the 2 customers who bought it is probably a casual user since he said that he got this laptop mainly for personal use, for browsing, video chat, etc and he seems to be pretty happy with the purchase. The other buyer offered this laptop as a gift for dad and he said something like "provides a very good performance in most applications". Be sure to check them out as well.

Summary

In conclusion, this is a laptop that can fit all categories of users, however, I would not easily recommend it to all as it may be a bit too strong for certain people. For instance, the average casual user will find that this laptop is much stronger than the one they truly NEED ad should thus look for something a bit cheaper.
