Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK Review

Here we are, reviewing another laptop from Dell. The Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK is a fairly good laptop, if not good, it is at least decent. However, it does have a whole lot of drawbacks as well (as with most things in this life). However, one can always stop and think: should this device have all those things that it is lacking, its price would also increase by quite a lot. As it stands, the price is quite low and should thus fit most pockets. You can read the rest of the Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK Review below!

Plus, this being a Dell, you are sort of assured that it will also last you more. I know countless people that can vouch for the durability and resistance of the Dell laptops. To sum it up in a few words: they are quite reliable.

The hardware of this laptop is pretty weak if you consider it by today’s standards, but then again, you can’t find something much better for a mere 400 and something dollars.

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
From a student's perspective, I can honestly say that if you want to work and go to all the classes and also have high grades (it is possible, trust me) you have to sacrifice something invaluable - time. Thus, having so little time for activities such as gaming, movie watching and such, you do not really need so much performance from your laptop. Therefore, the Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK would be perfect for that particular purpose as it doesn't have a whole lot bells and whistles (and performance) and it is powerful enough as to run any and all programs needed in school.

  • Casual User
From all of the casual users - I know of and trust me, I know a lot - I can take one conclusion: none of them is very skilled in the use of a PC and will thus never push it past its limits, or even close to its limits. Activities such as web browsing, social networking, movie watching and music listening aren't very hardware demanding and don't require a whole bunch of strength in order to run. Any computer with all of its basic functions can run these things. Therefore, Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK is more than suitable enough for a casual user. It offers all of the necessary strength without any extra bells and whistles and without adding to the price.

  • Business User
A business user should value performance and mobility. Since there isn't a very big demand of performance in the business world (there isn't, trust me). That being eliminated, the one thing that a business user should value above all else is mobility. That is why I believe that the perfect laptop for a business user would be the Ultrabook. Since those cost so much and if you find yourself on a budget, I guess there are also alternatives. Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK is a perfect example of one such alternative (and one of the cheapest alternatives, at that). As a starting business user with a limited budget, this small 15.6-inch laptop should suit you just perfectly.

  • Power User
The way I see things, the power users are the one with the know-how and the willingness to push a PC to its limits. Therefore, a power user PC should be top notch. I believe that all components (aside from the video card, as I don't see the need for a strong dedicated video card here) should be at their utmost maximum. That is why I think this laptop (the Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK) would be absolutely useless to the power users around. It may be able to handle a small bit of multitasking, but not enough as to measure as even a blip on the radar. I strongly recommend power users to only get their PCs on custom orders and build them from scrap with their desired components.

  • Gaming
The definition of the gaming laptop is basically the same as the power user laptop, except you also add a strong dedicated video card to the equation. Therefore, the affirmation I made earlier about power user laptops stands for the gaming ones as well. If you truly want performance in a department I strongly advise you to build it yourself or get someone to build it for you. Dell Inspiron i15N-3091BK is not a gaming laptop.

PROs Vs. CONs

One of the best things about this laptop is that it comes with a pre-installed version of Microsoft Windows 8. Personally, I am not a very big fan of Windows 8 and find it utterly useless on a laptop that doesn't have a touchscreen, however, that is only my opinion and should not account for much.

The lack of a dedicated video card and a numeric keypad is definitely a big minus as far sa I see it. Personally, I use those two particular components quite a lot and find them a Must Have. Also, the fact that it has some Pre-Installed programs isn't exactly good. Sure, it takes less time to set up, but most of those programs are just trial versions. Also, all of the experienced users have their own set of favorite programs they use.

Summary

In conclusion, this is a laptop best suited for Casual Users, Students and Business Users. Under no circumstances is this laptop usable by Power Users or Gamers, at least not by the ones that have great expectations and want a lot of performance in their tasks.
