Dell Inspiron i15N-1910BK Review

The Dell Inspiron i15N-1910BK is a pretty powerful laptop for its price group, and considering it is a Dell you can pretty much trust in its reliability and customer service, should you have a technical issue. As powerful as Dell usually makes their gaming laptops (you know, of course, that they are responsible for the Alienware laptops which are widely accepted as the most powerful or the power that be in the gaming world), the i15N-1910BK model is not that strong. It will still fit most business purposes, many school tasks and all of the casual uses, but you can’t use it for gaming or for heavy multitasking.

You can find Dell Inspiron i15N-1910BK for the nifty price of around $450 dollars (at the time of this review). Tough luck finding a Dell cheaper than that. Dells are usually pretty darn expensive, but if you come to think of it, they are pretty much worth the price. Mostly because they are very helpful with their customer support service. Dell Inspiron i15N-1910BK is available in two colors: Black and Red. They both look utterly awesome, by the way. As far as looks are concerned, the laptop is superb. However, it still has that problem I don’t quite like: the lack of a numeric pad.

Purchasing this device will also net you a copy of Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I strongly suggest creating some recovery disks as soon as you get it. I did so for my new laptop and I can assure you I didn’t regret it afterwards. Also, if you purchase this device by the en Id of this month there are also a few specials from Microsoft as well. You can get Microsoft Office 2010 for a big discount or upgrade to Microsoft Windows 8 Pro for a mere 20 dollars. And also, on the upgrade notion, I understand that for an extra 40 dollars or so you can upgrade its DDR memory to 8 GB. Check these 2 RAM sticks (2x 4GB) from Crucial.

There are a few things you need to be aware of about the Dell Inspiron i15N-1910BK – and about any device with Windows on it in general. if you’re not fond of computers that already have a few software pieces installed on them, then you will not be happy with this Dell. It does have a few programs – some have their uses but others aren’t so Usable in real life. Of course, that all depends on the user and the personal preferences. I am just laying out the facts here. Ah, I almost forgot. I believe you also get a wireless mouse from Microsoft for each device with Windows on it. I personally got a crimson Microsoft 3500 Blue Track Wireless mouse.

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
Same as the Business users. It's more than powerful enough to handle anything you throw at it.

  • Casual User
Most of the people that reviewed this device were actually Casual users that just use it for the Internet, for Skype or for file sharing / storage and the occasional movie. Those people were more than satisfied with it as it is, so you should probably be the same if you choose this one.

  • Power User
I would define a power user as someone that requires a lot of multitasking for his / her / its daily tasks. Since this device can have up to 8 GB of RAM, one would assume it can handle some multitasking. However, the frequency of the RAM is the important one (not to mention the type). The frequency of those 4GB of ram is 1333MHz which is pretty decent in my opinion.

  • Business User
It should be just fine for most business purposes. Its speed and processor are enough to use any program out there. Also, the large storage space and the 5400 rpm hard drive should aid you with the quick storage of any file of any size. If the missing Bluetooth connection is not a problem, then this laptop might be a good fit for you.

  • Gaming
It's not a very bright idea to use this laptop for gaming. Sure, it's fast, but it doesn't even have half the resources required to use it for gaming. First of all, a gaming laptop is one with a powerful graphics card. This one doesn't seem to have a very strong one. It's strong enough to run any HD stuff, but not games. It will probably run any game of up to 2007, but the pro-gamer isn't interested in those in the first place.

PROs Vs. CONs

The laptop is a Dell, so good luck finding something with the same hardware configuration with Dell written on it for such a low price. It also has a ton of offers and deals related to it, so you'd be pretty foolish to pass the opportunity.

The device doesn't have a numeric keypad. Also, there is no Bluetooth connection incorporated, but you can always add an external one (sticks in the USB port).

User Reviews: what others think?

At the time this article was written, only 3 customer reviews were written. Normally I’d discuss the most helpful and critical of those reviews, but at the current moment nobody has stood up against this laptop. Everybody is pleased with the really fast shipping, the strength and speed of the laptop, and the offers that come with it. Ah, I almost forgot. I believe you also get a wireless mouse from Microsoft for each device with Windows on it. I personally got a crimson Microsoft 3500 Blue Track Wireless mouse.

Summary

In the end, this is a laptop fit for mostly any task aside Gaming. You will probably not regret purchasing it. I can't emphasize enough how rare it is to find a Dell for this price, so you'd be wise not to pass off the offer.
