ASUS X55A-BCL092A Review

Available at Amazon.com since early September 2012, the ASUS X55A-BCL092A is currently available only for under $400 (it actually costs around $350 at the time of this review). Just by looking at the published specs I can say that this laptop would be great for casual users, students and probably even business users who don’t require a ton of processing power.

ASUS X55A-BCL092A features an entry-level processor (Intel Celeron B820 1.7 GHz Dual Core) adequate for basic office computing, entertainment and internet browsing experiences. With only 2GB of DDR3 RAM memory (but expandable to 8GB if you need more power), a 320GB hard drive, 1 x USB 2.0 and 1 x USB 3.0, built-in Webcam and Microphone, this laptop should offer you a great multimedia experience.

As an entry-level type laptop, the ASUS X55A-BCL092A is best suited for students and casual users who are on a budget and are only looking for basic computing power. Power users and gamers should looks elsewhere because this laptop is not the best fit.

as product flaw is RAM (4 GB) [when i buy labtop] and i upgrade to 8 GB and computer works better. It helps to work with bigger software and easily browsig Internet. may it be labtop works with 16GB RAM, i don’t know.

Student
From a student's perspective, I can honestly claim that not a lot of performance is required on the hardware's side. All that it truly needs is enough strength as to run the programs it was intended and perhaps the occasional movie / small game. As far as I see it, ASUS X55A-BCL092A can be perfect for a student on a budget who doesn't want to break the bank.
Casual User
From all of the Casual Users I know of, and trust me - I know a lot of them, the average casual user doesn't really need so much performance to fulfil his / her daily tasks. The most things that Casual Users use their PCs for are: web-browsing, social networking and / or the occasional small game and movie. In other words, since they do not have that great of a need for Multitasking, not a whole bunch of hardware strength is necessary. Therefore, I'd say that the ASUS X55A-BCL092A laptop is pretty good for a Casual User, but I do believe that a casual user can most probably get something a bit cheaper than this laptop, and a bit better as far as quality is concerned.
Business User
The normal business user is somebody that values mobility above all else. Therefore, I strongly believe that the best choice of PC for a businessman is an Ultrabook. The Ultrabook provides great amounts of strength (or enough as to manage) and is more mobile and lighter than any other laptop, by any shape and colour. I would only recommend this laptop in certain conditions: only if you are a business man on a very limited budget. Needless to say, one cannot use this device for any amount of multitasking. Oh and keep in mind that ASUS X55A-BCL092A doesn't have Bluetooth option (but you can always buy an external dongle if you really need it).
Power User
As far as I know, a power user is somebody that uses the PC to its maximum, without actually requiring a very powerful video card. Actually, I do believe that the dedicated one will suffice. What matters, however, is that they have all of the necessary components at their 100% (strong processor, RAM, lots of storage space). Needless to say, ASUS X55A-BCL092A doesn't meet any of those criteria, and should not be used by any Power User whatsoever.
Gaming
A gaming laptop is one of the best laptops available. To sum it up in a few words: it is just like a power user laptop, but it also has a powerful video card on it. If ASUS X55A-BCL092A wasn't good for any Power User, why would it fit the taste of a gamer? Serious gamers will want to look for something built for gaming. This laptop is not a gaming laptop.

PROs Vs. CONs

Perhaps one of the best things about this device is the fact that it has Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium on 64 bit installed on it. Microsoft is having a sale at this moment too, allowing you to get Windows 8 Free when it comes out if you buy something with Windows 7 on it, or you can choose to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro when it will come out.

The lack of a dedicated video card is one of the biggest disadvantages for a laptop, as far as I can see it. Also, the fact that it has pre-installed software on it will be an annoying thing since some people may disagree with them.

User Reviews: what others think?

So far there is only one user review available, and that one isn't so critical. That one user review says that they are very satisfied with getting it for a price of under 300 dollars. Unfortunately, this device doesn't cost that little right now, so you won't really be as lucky as that person making the review. Last time we checked, the ASUS X55A-BCL092A was priced around $350.

In conclusion, ASUS X55A-BCL092A could be a great option for the price-conscious buyers looking for basic computing power. As it stands, this device would be great for a Casual User, a Student or even a few Businessmen that find themselves on an incredibly small budget.
