HP Pavilion g6-2210us Review

Available on Amazon.com from mid-October, the HP Pavilion g6-2210us is a fairly attractive new model. Casual users and students will find the price attractive while business users will love the power, mobility and the awesome specs/ set of features. At the time of the review this laptop was priced below $450 (already discounted from the $509.99 list price).

Hell, when was the last time you found a new HP laptop priced under $430 (at the time of this review) with Dual-Core processor running at 2.5 Ghz (up to 3GHz), 640GB of Hard Drive Space, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, equipped with the recently-launched Windows 8 ?

HP Pavilion g6-2210us is perhaps one of the best priced laptops I’ve seen in a long while.

Who is it for? discussing who would benefit most from this laptop...

  • Student
if you are a student, as I am, and want to work on the side and go to all your classes, you're going to find out that not a whole lot of free time is available. If you have a few spare hours in the evening, then that is a miracle. Therefore, something not very powerful will suffice for students alike. With a 2.5 GHz powerful AMD processor, 640GB HDD Space, 4 GB of DDR3 the HP Pavilion g6-2210us should easily get the job done. The price is also very attractive at under $450.

  • Casual User
From all the casual users I know of, none of them is willing to, or more likely knows how to use all the resources of the PC. Most of them limit themselves to web-browsing, social-networking, movies and music. In conclusion, a basic computer with the basic functions can suffice. This particular laptop (HP Pavilion g6-2210us) can handle all those tasks gracefully, but since it's as strong as it is I would say you might get away with something cheaper and weaker if you're just a casual user.

  • Business User
The way I see things, the normal business user will value mobility above all else. Therefore, I'd say that the perfect laptop for a business user would be the Ultrabook. However, if that is out of the question, as I too know how expensive they are, I guess others would suffice as well. The HP Pavilion g6-2210us can most certainly handle most business tasks I'm aware of and for less than $450 this model should sell out pretty fast :)

  • Power User
The way I see things, the ideal power user laptop has all but the video card (as I don't really believe a strong video card has any particular use on a power user laptop) at tip-top condition. All components must be strong as power users are the ones that are willing to push the PC to its limits with advanced multitasking notions. I suppose, in certain cases, the HP Pavilion g6-2210us can handle a small dose of power usage, but I wouldn't stress it TOO hard as I am sure it cannot handle it, only until a certain level. Although this is a quite good laptop, it will perform even better once you upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB.

  • Gaming
The definition of a gaming laptop is pretty much the same as the definition of a power user laptop, except you also add a strong video card to the mix. What I said about the power users can also be pretty much applied to the gaming laptops as well. The one thing you need to keep in mind is this: do not push it beyond its limits. HP Pavilion g6-2210us can handle a few of the older titles, and perhaps, if you set your details right, some of the newer titles as well. However, don't expect a whole lot of performance in the newer games. I wouldn't personally consider it a gaming laptop.

PROs Vs. CONs

One of the best points of this laptop is that it has Microsoft Windows 8 on it. Now personally I'm not a huge fan of this OS. Actually, I don't really like it at all on normal PCs, but I think it does great on laptops which are equipped with a touchscreen.

Now I am ashamed to say that I am not very familiar with this hardware configuration. However, by looking at the published specs I can see that HP Pavilion g6-2210us has a battery life of only 3.15 hours which in my opinion is quite low. Also, I don't see the Bluetooth connection to be available. These are the two main disadvantages if you were to ask me. However, that's only my assumption and shouldn't be taken as seriously.

User Reviews: what others think?

As of yet, I'm afraid that the HP Pavilion g6-2210us has no user reviews of it. However, you could be the first to review it if you purchase it. Do feel free to buy it and then share your opinions of it on the internet. Although, from the lack of reviews and continually decreasing stock, I'd assume that it is selling like hot tamales, granted I do not know what tamales are.

RAM Upgrade to 8GB DDR3 @ 1333 MHz

Summary

In conclusion, this is a laptop that will suit many categories. It is great for Students, Casual Users and Business Users, however, those three categories may perhaps find something for a cheaper price. I do not think HP Pavilion g6-2210us will fit any power user or gamer that truly want performance in their tasks. While it can run most of those tasks, it won't be "proficient" in any of them.
