I was recently looking for some good gaming laptops for our Blog and came across the Acer Aspire V 15 V3-572G-543S 15.6-Inch Laptop. It comes very well equipped with the right gear to make it a good cheap gaming laptop. After giving it a quick look for the Blog I decided it deserves a full review.
Acer Aspire V 15 V3-572G-543S 15.6-Inch Laptop Review
The Exterior
The top cover of the Acer Aspire V 15 V3-572G-543S has a shiny brushed aluminum finish with a silver Acer logo in the middle of the left side of the cover. On the inside we find the 15.6-Inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel display. A Full HD display is still pretty rare in this price range and is a big plus for this Acer. It is enclosed by a black matte plastic rim that contains the Webcam on the mid top edge and a silver acer logo on the bottom.
The inside is finished in a contrasting silver black finish thanks to the black full sized chicklet keyboard and the silver brushed aluminum finish of the rest of the surface. The keyboard comes with a number pad and has large well spaced out keys.
The very big gray touchpad is very well positioned underneath the spacebar off center. This is the ideal position to not interfere while typing. Most manufacturers don’t move it so much off center and it does get in the way.
The power button is placed in the upper left corner just above the keyboard.
The final small design queue is a small Aspire V in the right side of the palm rest, just underneath the keyboard.
The Status-LEDs and the card reader are located on the left side of the front lip of the laptop.
The Connectivity
The Acer Aspire V 15 V3-572G-543S has mostly all expected connectivity options out the box, but not all. It comes with the Kensington Lock-port, VGA-out, Gigabite Ethernet Lan port, HDMI-out, 1 USB 3.0 port and the Mic/Headphones Combo-jack. The power connector, DVD-Writer and 2 USB 2.0 ports are available on the other side.
On the inside it features Wireless WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac connectivity. The only thing missing from this device is Bluetooth. I always find this strange as most Bluetooth modules are integrated in the WiFi module.
The Performance
The Performance of the Acer Aspire V 15 V3-572G-543S is the thing that first caught my eye in the first place and for a good reason. It comes with the new 5th Generation Intel Core i5-5200U processor running at 2.2GHz and also with a Nvidia GeForce GT840M graphics card. The GT840M is a midrange graphics card from Nvidia at it can run most of todays games on high to medium settings.
The combination of good processor and good graphics card make it a very good affordable gaming laptop.
Here you have someone playing Titanfall on a laptop with the GT840M:
On top of this it comes with 8GB DDR3L RAM making multitasking a non issue and with the 1TB HDD you won’t be getting any low space warnings any time soon.
This laptop gets a 6-cell 4700 mAh Li-Ion battery which promises up to 7-hours of battery life.
Very nice review. I feel like youve actually tested the machine.Majority of the others I”ve read (trust me I’ve read a lot of them) all say the same things. Like they just rewrote Acer’s product page for the computer. You mentioned there’s no Bluetooth connectivity. I’ve seen elsewhere that its Bluetooth 4.0 compatible. I have a few questions also; is the battery user exchangeable? Also where are the vents located? Does it produce excessive heat? I had one more but seemed to have forgotten it. I’m interested in getting this laptop. After 10 days of searching I’ve narrowed it down to this one. Hopefully you’ll respond as quickly as you can. I wanted to order it tonight, but I’m still reading up on it. I’ve yet to see a mention of a replaceable battery. That was why I asked you about it. It may seem trivial to most, but its important to me. Who wants to be a wall hugger, lol! Know what I mean? Look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you!
Hi Robert,
Yes the battery pack can be removed. Here’s a photo of the underside: .
I didn’t have a photo at the time of writing.
The cooling vent is located on the left side and based on my experience with Intel i5s I think it will start getting hot only if you do prolonged gaming with it. A cooling pad is always a good idea for a laptop, no matter what brand/model, if you intend to do long gaming sessions. Mine has good cooling and still can lose performance without the cooling pad.
As for the Bluetooth, other models, i.e. other product codes V3-572G-xxx may have Bluetooth, this one doesn’t.
If you have other questions feel free to ask.
